Dolphin Sutures have arrived in New Zealand!

Ostralos are very pleased to announce the arrival of Dolphin Sutures in New Zealand. Manufacutured especially for us, these sutures are of very high quality and are avaiable at an exceptional price. With unparralelled value for money, many practitioners are readily switching to the Dolphin brand and are very pleased with the results.

Progut - Plain Catgut

Size 4-0

3/8 circle, reverse cutting, 19mm needle

Excellent for surgical and non-surgical extraction sites. Usually holds wound for 5-7 days and resorbed by 10 days.

Duracare - Monofilament Polypropylene

Size 5-0

3/8 circle, reverse cutting, 16mm needle

Nonabsorbable monofilament sterile surgical suture. Ideal for skin suturing.

 

Petcryl Fast - Rapid Absorption Polyglactin 910

Size 4-0

3/8 circle, reverse cutting, 19mm needle

If you normally use VICRYL RAPIDE®, try this suture for an excellent cost-effective alternative

  • Braided multifilament absorbable suture composed of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide
  • In vivo strength retention 50% at 5 days, and lost at 10-14 days
  • Absorption complete around 42 days
  • Handles well and causes minimal tissue reaction

 

Petcryl Mono - Monofilament Poliglecaprone 25

Size 4-0

3/8 circle, reverse cutting, 19mm needle

Petcryl® Mono is excellent for oral mucosa flap closure. The monofilament thread allows wounds to be kept exceptionally clean, without build-up of plaque and bacteria. Ideal for implant surgery.

  •  Monofilament absorbable suture composed of glycolide and e-caprolactone
  • Excellent pliability
  • Tensile strength 50-60% at 7 days, and lost at 21 days
  • Absorption complete around 90 days
  • Better handling and knot security than most monofilament sutures
  • Elicits minimal tissue reaction
